public advocacy internship 

Seeking a hard-working, personable intern to assist our Community Organizer this autumn. This internship is unpaid.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is hard-working & dedicated to electing pro-choice, pro-women candidates to office. They should have a strong & proven commitment to progressive values & civic engagement. Organizing experience a plus!

What we’re looking for:

  • College student, freshman through senior, interested in political organizing, public affairs, political science, or reproductive justice
  • Able to commit at least 15 hours per week. Approximately 6 of these hours will need to be on Saturday or Sunday, as this is when our electoral canvasses will occur.
  • Excellent oral communication & organizational skills
  • Experience phonebanking or canvassing for an organization or candidate

What you’ll do:

  • Through Election Day, much of your time will be dedicated to the Virginia governor’s race, as we fight to elect Ralph Northam
    • Weekly canvasses
    • Monthly phonebanks
    • Volunteer recruitment
    • Learn how to use NGP VAN
    • Working extra hours during Get Out The Vote
  • After Election Day:
    • Organize grassroots efforts with the goal of preserving & broadening access to reproductive health care in DC, MD, & VA

 

This internship will be an excellent opportunity to get involved in the fight for reproductive healthcare access & gain experience in political organizing!

Marketing and Branding INternship 

Seeking a talented intern to assist with search marketing, sales channels, & public relations projects that support our mission during the fall. This internship is unpaid.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is a motivated self-starter who is willing to lend their talents to strengthen the Planned Parenthood brand while also taking time to listen, ask questions, & take direction. We want someone who is creative, professional, & thoughtful when interacting with online communities & building relationships.

What we’re looking for:

  • College student, sophomore through senior. Prefer Marketing majors, but applications from all majors welcomed.
  • Able to commit 1-2 full days in the DC office per week
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate on strategy development for marketing campaigns
  • Creative collateral development
  • Implement marketing plans for health centers across MD & DC
  • Product assembly & sales
  • Advertising campaign ROI
  • Contribute to website development
  • Other marketing/brand projects as needed

Communications INTERNSHIP  

Seeking a hard-working intern to assist with 501(c)(3) & 501(c)(4) social media, internal & external communications, & public relations projects that support our mission this autumn. This internship is unpaid.

Our ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with a good sense of humor who is willing to lend their talents to further the PPMW mission.

What we’re looking for:

  • College student, sophomore through senior. Prefer Communication or Journalism Majors but applications from all majors welcomed!
  • Able to commit 15 hours in the DC office per week
  • Experience with many social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Creativity, humor, & wit!
  • Knowledge of Photoshop or Canva preferred

What you’ll do:

  • 501(c)(3) & 501(c)(4) social media planning & execution
  • Message development
  • Curate content for the weekly volunteer opportunity email & the monthly staff & volunteer newsletters
  • Other public affairs projects, as needed

PATIENT SERVICES ADMINISTRATIVE INTERNSHIP

Seeking a talented intern to assist in the Patient Services Department. This internship is a non-paid but can be credit based with a time commitment of approximately 15-20 hours a week.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is a motivated, self-starter looking to learn all aspects of a health care organizations operation.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Junior in college-graduate school studying health care administration, business management, nursing, non profit management or health science.
  • Able to commit 1-3 full days in the DC office per week
  • Familiarity /or interest in health care management and/or operations

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Throughout the experience, the intern will lead and participate in projects and initiatives that impact patient services operations.

The intern will gain exposure to Patient Services operations, health center functions, and system level initiatives. Projects will be based on organizational need and the interns interest.
