public advocacy internship 

Seeking a hard-working, personable intern to assist our Community Organizer this spring. This internship is unpaid.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is hard-working & dedicated to electing pro-choice, pro-women candidates to office. They should have a strong & proven commitment to progressive values & civic engagement. Organizing experience a plus! Diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

What we’re looking for:

  • College student, freshman through senior, interested in political organizing, public affairs, political science, or reproductive justice
  • Able to commit at least 15 hours per week with occasional weekend availability
  • Excellent oral communication & organizational skills
  • Experience phone-banking or canvassing for an organization or candidate is a plus

What you’ll do:

  • Organize grassroots efforts with the goal of preserving & broadening access to reproductive health care in DC, MD, & VA 
  • Participate in canvassing efforts & phone-banking opportunities
  • Volunteer recruitment & engagement
  • Learn how to use NPG VAN 
  • Other duties as assigned

The internship is based out of our Washington DC NOMA office. The intern is asked to be available at least 15 hours a week. Internships with PPMW are an excellent way to build your resume while gaining valuable experience & an excellent opportunity to get involved in the fight for reproductive healthcare access & gain experience in political organizing!

Brand and Marketing INternship 

Seeking a hard-working, personable intern to assist our Branding and Marketing Associate this spring. This internship is unpaid.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is a motivated self-starter who is willing to lend their talents to strengthen the Planned Parenthood brand while also taking time to listen, ask questions, & take direction. We want someone who is creative, professional, & thoughtful when interacting with online communities & building relationships. Diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

What we’re looking for:

  • College student, sophomore through senior. Prefer Marketing majors, but applications from all majors welcomed
  • Able to commit 1-2 full days in the DC office per week
  • Required: Knowledge of Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator
  • Practical skills in Canva
  • Knowledge of & strong commitment to reproductive rights & PPMW's mission

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate on strategy development for marketing campaigns
  • Creative collateral development
  • Implement marketing plans for health centers across MD & DC
  • Product assembly & sales
  • Advertising campaign ROI
  • Contribute to website development
  • Other marketing/brand projects as needed

Communications INTERNSHIP  

Seeking a hard-working intern to assist with 501(c)(3) & 501(c)(4) social media, internal & external communications, & public relations projects that support our mission this spring. This internship is unpaid.

Our ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with a good sense of humor who is willing to lend their talents to further the PPMW mission. Diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

What we’re looking for:

  • College student, sophomore through senior. Prefer Communication or Journalism majors but applications from all majors welcomed!
  • Able to commit 15 hours in the DC office per week
  • Experience with many social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Creativity, humor, & wit!
  • Knowledge of Photoshop or Canva preferred

What you’ll do:

  • 501(c)(3) & 501(c)(4) social media planning & execution
  • Create content for the PPMW blog
  • Website content development
  • Curate content for the weekly volunteer opportunity email & the monthly staffnewsletter
  • Other public affairs projects, as needed

Engagement INTERNSHIP

We are seeking a hard-working, personable intern to assist our External Relations team this spring. This internship is unpaid.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is a detailed oriented self-starter who is willing to lend their talents to strengthen the Planned Parenthood mission and values. We want someone who is creative, professional, hard-working, and focused. Diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • College student with knowledge of & commitment to reproductive rights & PPMW's mission
  • Able to commit 1-2 full days in the DC office per week, with some weekend & weeknight availability

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Cultivate partnerships for various PPMW departments
  • Research community partner events
  • Attend events on behalf of PPMW, representing PPMW's mission & values
  • Communicate with rapid response volunteers
  • Recruit volunteers
  • Assist the Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator

This internship is based out of our Washington DC NOMA office. The intern is asked to be available at least 16 hours a week, including weekends and evenings. Due to the nature of this internship, some events will be assigned within 24-hours of the event. Internships with PPMW are an excellent way to build your resume while gaining valuable experience. Through PPMW’s internship program, you will not only gain skills pertinent your specific internship, but also to increase your employability through additional professional development opportunities.

DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP

Our ideal candidate is someone who is a motivated self-starter who is willing to lend their talents to strengthen the Planned Parenthood’s Development team. We are looking for someone who is a quick learner and has great attention to details. Diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • College student, sophomore through senior
  • Knowledge of & strong commitment to reproductive rights & PPMW's mission
  • Able to commit 15 hours in the DC office per week
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Tech savvy with a willingness to learn Raiser's Edge

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Coding credit card statements and scanning receipts in the system
  • Inputting and updating records in Raiser's Edge
  • Coding credit card statements and scanning receipts in the system
  • Hand writing thank you notes and stuffing envelopes
  • Checking Development emails and incoming mails
  • Filing documents
  • Creating list of returned mails and do not call lists, etc.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Development Events Internship

We are seeking a hard-working, personable intern to assist our Development team this spring.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is a detailed oriented self-starter who is willing to lend their talents to strengthen the Planned Parenthood brand while also taking time to listen, ask questions, & take direction. We want someone who is creative, professional, hard-working, and focused. Diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply.   

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Able to commit 15 hours in the DC office per week
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Collaborate on idea generation for event marketing and planning ideas
  • Assist with entering event attendees into our database, Raisers Edge
  • Assist in prepping for events, including gathering materials and creating nametags
  • Making follow up phone calls to event invitees and sponsors in an effort to recruit them to attend our events
  • Help with some even related tasks including ordering catering, event setup, and other logistical tasks as needed
  • Research and write donor profiles, briefing memos
  • Help set up for donor meetings
  • Make thank you calls
